I was the Icom Southeastern Service Center for ten years.  That is our most-serviced brand.  Before that, I serviced nearly any of the major manufacturer's equipment including Yaesu, Kenwood and even Alinco.  I would like to talk to you about your service request on these and other brands.

I do not service or modify citizens band equipment regardless of manufacturer.  I do not service Ranger products.  Call regarding any of your other service needs.  If I can't do it, perhaps I know who can.

Whether I can accept something for repair is based on only a couple of things: Can I get parts and is there a positive prognosis for the repair?  Older radios often need donor units as a parts source because new parts are no longer available.  This often makes the repairs much more difficult.  Radios and other electronics subjected to a severe lightning strikes, even if repaired, frequently have poor reliability.  Their prognosis for repair is usually not great and no warranty is offered on lightning strike repairs even if accomplished.  If you have lightning damaged equipment, it is best for you to talk to me about your radio or perhaps, even send it in before making these decisions. I can, and do, work with insurance agents and adjusters as an added service to my customers when conditions warrant.
